Our villas.


Tucked amongst the trees are Nihiwatu’s 21 villas that represent the cutting-edge of responsible luxury. Perched above the Indian Ocean and hand-built by local craftsmen using materials indigenous to Indonesia, like Alang Alang, teak and rattan, all the villas are air-conditioned with panoramic views.

All of our villas are the epitome of understated luxury; featuring spacious outdoor living areas and private Bales to soak up the views of theturquoise seascape and visionary gold of the Sumba

Wherever possible, we have allowed the beautiful natural surroundings to take centre stage, whether it’s the world-renowned surf break, waving coconut palms or blossoming bougainvillea. The emphasis is on open-plan living that reflects the simplicity and beauty of Sumbanese.



Daily yoga and pilates classes for beginners to experts with resident yoga teacher.  
Yoga classes can be structured to individual needs and cater to all levels.

Stretching across 560 acres of unspoiled natural land including a two and half-kilometer private beach, this spectacular all-villa resort offers secluded privacy and the ultimate exclusivity.

The 21 villas of exceptional design are built on private terraces with large verandahs that sift through the trees with an impressive use of living space, imbued by natural materials to make the most of the dramatic views.

Guest facilities include the iconic Boathouse, Ombak restaurant, Nio Beach Club, Menara Bale, private dining pavilions and the Beach Spa.

Rates for 2015.


The resort will be closed between 6th January and 1st March 2015 for maintenance works.

From 1st March 2015, our rates start from $900.00 USD per room, per night based on Full Board in one of our Ratu Luxury villas. Full Board includes all meals and all non-alcoholic drinks. All activities are at an additional and supplementary charge including registration to reserve one of our ten surf slots, per day.

Please note that all accommodation rates exclusive Government tax and service charge at 21%.

How to get there

After your arrival in Bali 


Nihiwatu office in Bali will arrange for domestic flights from Denpasar-Sumba and Sumba-Denpasar.
The flights will be through Tambolaka, the closer airport in West Sumba.
The flight schedule and cost are as follows:-

The current price for return flight tickets Bali - Sumba - Bali is US $ 470 net per person.  This price includes use of VIP lounge at Bali and Tambolaka airport, excess baggage and bulk baggage, airport taxes and baggage
handling.  We are not charging any tax or service charge on flight tickets.
